George a Paris, circa 1820. Fine and unusual hour and half-hour striking, ormolu centre-seconds mantle clock. Gilt bronze, standing on four paw feet, the border of the base chased with acanthus leaf decoration, the movement supported by four chased and engineturned columns, the pediment applied with figures of Pegasus, branches of foliage centred with the figure of an angel, below the engine-turned bezel. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minutes and seconds rings. Pierced and engraved Louis XVI hands. Brass circular with going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, pin-wheel escapement set on the back plate, seconds beating, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring and regulator. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Signed on the dial. Dim. 44 x 27 x 16 cm.
