Swiss, No. 7614, case by Verger, Paris, No. 12588, Brevete S.G.D.G., circa 1920. Fine and unusual, 18K gold and enamel, rectangular Art-Deco purse watch in a fitted tooled red leather purse. Three body, rectangular with spring loaded folding watch with engraved geometrical decoration, the spring loaded folding cover with black champleve enamelled decoration in an Art-Deco pattern. Frosted silver with Arabic numerals. Blued-steel "spade" hands. Notes The mechanism of this purse watch, which is opened by pushing the centre of the back, to be set on the bed-side table as a purse watch, is highly unusual and entirely different born the "guillotine" type or the "montres a volets" produced by Verger for Cartier or Vacheron Constantin. It was certainly devised by Verger in order to be sold by other retailers.
