Geneva, circa 1820. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and enamel large centreseconds watch designed as a peony. Double body, in the form of a peony, the band engraved with foliage enhanced with blue champleve enamel, the back enamel back realistically and finely painted in the colours of the flower, the bezel decorated en suite, the pendant designed as the flower stem. Hinged gilt-brass cuvette. White enamel with sunk centre, Roman numerals and outer minutes and seconds ring. Gold "scotties " hands. Notes The case of this watch can only be compared with that of the "rose" by Piguet Mcylan, sold by Antiquorum on 21 April 1996, lot 267 and one might think that it was produced in the same workshop. The white enamel dial with sunk centre was made in order to fit the watch with a flat glass. It is certainly one of the earliest dials with sunk centre ever made.
