Unsigned, Swiss, circa 1790. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel pearl-set slim watch. Two-body, back cover with translucent imperial blue enamel over elaborate engine-turning and engraving, paillon border, half pearl-set bezels, pendant and bow decorated en suite. White enamel, mixed Roman and Arabic hour indications, outer minute dot divisions with 15-minute Arabic numerals. Gold Breguet hands. 43.5 mm o, hinged, gilt full plate, with a raised portion to accomodate the barrel and fusee, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain three-arm brass balance with continental cock pierced and engraved.Diam. 53.2 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, page 166-167. Notes It is rare to find a watch with a mixed Roman and Arabic chapter ring. Lepine adopted this iconography to give a new elegance to his watches between 1788 and 1789.
