Breguet et Fils, No. 3446, sold to Lord Hughes Ball Hughes on 23 May 1821 for 5000 francs.Very important and rare 18 ct. gold, extra flat, half-quarter repeating, jump-hour, pocket chronometer watch with date. Accompanied by the Breguet certificate No. 2968, delivered by Brown in March 1958. 43.3mm o, gilt brass bridge calibre, 22 jewels, large barrel with female winding-square, five-wheel train, jewelled counterpoised straight-line lever escapement with draw, 12-tooth brass escape wheel with oil-retention holes, gold guard pin on the fork, cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued-steel parts, Breguet balance spring, pare-chute shock protection on the pivots, repeater on one gong with one hammer activated by aslide in the band.Signed on the dial.Diam. 48 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, pages 174-175. Notes This watch belongs to the series of approximately three dozens of the most expensive repeaters Breguet ever made. Whereas a regular Breguet repeater could have been bought for less than 2000 francs, this example cost two and half times more.
