James Vautrollier Fecit, London, circa 1625. Fine and rare silver and gilt oval single-hand pendant watch, with concealed dial. Two-body, silver back with winding aperture with a circular shutter, polished silver hinged cover, polished silver band. 32 x 40 mm, gilt brass full plate, turned baluster pillars, fusee and gut line for the going train, verge escapement, two-arm steel balance, elongated git pierced and engraved cock secured by a pin, wheel and click set-up.Signed James Vautrollier Fecit on the back plate.Dim. 35 x 46 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, pages 46-47. Notes Vautrollier JamesListed in London in 1622, he joined the Clockmakers' Company in 1632. Some of his works are preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and in the Guildhall Museum.
