Attributed to Moulinié, Bautte & Cie, Geneva, circa 1806. Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl and ruby-set, combined watch and perfume sprinkler in the form of a flintlock pistol, with a patch compartment. The grip of translucent scarlet enamel over a flinqué ground, the borders set with half pearls. Gold plates, finely chased with a dog on one side and a stag on the reverse, are framed with half pearls. The barrel of cobalt blue translucent enamel over a flinqué ground with a gold scroll design simulating damascene work. The perfume is released through the pistils of a gold lotus flower with engraved petals, which is shot out of the barrel. The watch is concealed in the end of the butt, whichs decorated with half pearl surrounds centred by a half pearl, four gold chains attached to a loose ring, patch compartment in the grip. Gold, champlevé, radial Roman chapters, outer minute divisions. Blued-steel Breguet hands. 15.7 mmo, gilt brass full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain three-arm brass balance, blued-steel balance spring, continental cock symmetrically pierced and engraved with six flowers.Dim.
