Breguet Type XX. Produced in the 1950’s for the C.E.V. (Centre d’ essai en vol). Fine and rare, water-resistant, stainless steel French aviator’s wristwatch with “retour en vol” round button chronograph and register. .V. 33”, graduated revolving steel bezel, concave lugs. D. black with radium-coated Arabic numerals, auxiliary dials fo black with radium-coated Arabic numerals, auxiliary dials for the seconds and the 30 minutes register. “Bâton” radium-coated hands. Cal. 222, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial signed. Case numbered. Diam. 38 mm. Notes The title “retour en vol” refers to the instantaneous fly-back feature of the chronograph used by the French Air Force. A single push on the lower chronograph button “zero’s” the chronograph hand while still in motion. The chronograph hand then restarts, avoiding the need for a pilot to break concentration from the control of the plane.
