France, No. 616, produced circa 1880.Fine rectangular eight-day going, hour and half-hour striking, gilt brass carriage clock with hour repeating. glazed on all sides and the top, stepped base, fluted columns, hinged fluted handle, hinged back door. off-white enamel chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, center with filigree floral and foliate pattern against polished steel background creating a mirror effect. Blued steel “fleur-de-lis” and “lozenge hands”. rectangular, brass, double going barrels, platform with lateral calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, flat balance spring, repeating by activating the push button at the top.Base signed, movement punched with maker’s trademark.Dim. 16 x 10 x 9 cm.
