Geneva, circa 1830, made for the Islamic market. Very fine and rare gold and enamel musical zarf. Scalloped edge with bright-cut decoration, filigree panels below intersected with oval black enamel panelsdecorated with flowers en grisaille, one panel with an applied gold Islamic crown (possibly Moroccan), further goldfoliate decoration on a black ground with white flower bud, line and stiff-leaf decoration, tapering flared base withconforming enamel decoration, the body of the cup fitted with a musical movement beneath a gold cover securedby a screw. 32 mm., brass, pinned barrel, two steel combs, activated by a slide in the body and wound byrotating the base of the cup. Morocco leather covered tapering case.Dim. 52 mm. high.
