Chinese, 20th century. Monumental carved and stained wood figural floor sculpture in the form of a Happy Buddha, Hotei, Pu-Tai, or Ho Tai, the laughing bald man cloaked in robes with a largely exposed pot belly stomach, which symbolizes happiness, good luck, and plentitude in a standing position with a peach in each hand above his head. Around his neck is Mandarin beads holding a hulu double gourd to center of his belly, standing on a naturalistic base. Height 74", width 29", depth 20".
