Lieutenent Amedeo Vesco’s Watch Rolex-Panerai, “Radiomir”, case No. 956638, Ref. 6152. Made for Italian military frogmen in 1953. Very fine and very rare, historically important, large, thick, cushion-shaped, anti-magnetic, water-resistant, stainless steel military diver’s wristwatch. Accompanied by the original case back opener key, an additional fitted leather strap, a copy of Lieutenant Amedeo Vesco’s military award certificates and a letter from his son attesting to the authenticity of the watch. Three-body, polished and brushed, concave bezel, curved lugs, screw-down case back engraved “Registered Design – Modele Depose”, screwed-down Rolex “Brevet” crown, soft iron cap to protect the movement from magnetic fields. Black with painted white Arabic numerals and baton indexes. Luminous yellow gold baton hands. 16’’’, rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed Panerai, case and movement signed Rolex. Diam 48 mm. Thickness 18 mm Notes Amedeo Vesco (1914- 2002) Joined the Italian Royal Navy was assigned to the Decima Mas unit and participated in several war missions.
