The John B. Stetson, Jr Breguet No. 1723. Sold on April 30, 1929, to John B. Stetson, Jr. Very fine and rare, thin, Art Deco 18K white gold keyless dress watch with splitseconds chronograph, instantaneous 60-minute register and double tachometer scale for 1000 meters. Three-body, satiné and polished, snap-on back with initials "J.B.S. Jr.". Silvered, Breguet numerals, outer minute/second track with Arabic five minute/seconds, outermost double tachometer scale with 1000 meter base, minute register at 12, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. Notes John B. Stetson (1884-1952) Was born on October 14, 1884. The son of the founder of the John B. Stetson hat company, he worked for a time in his father's firm. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force from 1917 to 1920. President Coolidge appointed him Ambassador to Poland, which post he held from 1925 to 1929. After his resignation in 1929, Stetson formed a brokerage firm. He died in 1952.
