Beautiful Lady Swiss, No. 6936. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1795. Fine, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch. Two-body, “Directoire”, pearl-set bezels, the back decorated with a finely painted on enamel portrait of a young lady in a blue and white dress and leaning on a pedestal supporting a pearl-set urn, translucent royal blue ground over radial engine-turning. White enamel with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, eccentric winding aperture. Blued steel lozenge hands. 46 mm., frosted gilt, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with endplate, silver regulation disc. Diam. 55 mm.
