Automaton with Three Jacks Ducommun, No. 43907. Made circa 1815. Fine and unusual, quarter-repeating, 18K gold pocket watch with three automaton Jacks. Three-body, “Empire”, No. 5383, mastermark HC, polished, reeded band. Spring-loaded gilt cuvette hinged to the movement ring. Small white enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, chased gold Jacks in Roman costume on each side of the dial appearing to strike the hours and quarters on two bells, a small gold appliqué below the dial of a putto with love trophies striking a further bell, royal blue enamel ground. Steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass, full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece, silver regulation dial, repeating on two gongs activated by depressing the pendant.
