Quarter Repeater, Demi Chronometer Henry Capt, Genève, No. 24736. Made circa 1870. Fine and rare, 18K gold, quarter-repeating, keyless lever "demi chronometre" pocket watch. Four-body, "bassine et filet", polished and engine-turned, the back cover with engraved foliate monogram "AH". Glazed goldrimmed cover to view the movement. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel fleur-de-lys hands. Notes Demi-Chronomètre The name was used by Henry Capt to indicate that the movement was sent to the Observatory for chronometric control, but that for commercial reasons, it did not remain long enough to complete the entire course of testing. To our knowledge, only two Genevan firms employed the denomination “Demi-Chronomètre”: Henry Capt and Vacheron Constantin.
