Hour Lavigne, Ref. 2425. Made in 1970. Fine brass electro-mechanical desk clock with handpainted dial. To be sold without reserve Brass dome-shaped with foliage pattern on the sides. Hinged back door. Hand-painted depicting a hunting scene the upper section representing mythical characters and a mystical calendar, applied gilt Arabic numerals. Gilt cathedral hands. Battery operated electro-mechanical movement with monometallic balance and manual switch to launch the movement. Numbered on case. Dim. 17 x 27 x 7 cm. Notes The scene on the dial of this clock was painted by Parisian artist Fred Money, after the “Very Rich Hours of the Duc de Berry”. It is taken from the book of hours executed in the early 15th century for the Duke of Berry by the brothers Paul, Hermann and Jean Limbourg. They painted 12 scenes, one for each month. The one reproduced here represents the month of December.
