French, No. 1836. Made circa 1880. Fine, gilt brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour-striking and repeating carriage clock. Accompanied by the fitted travelling case and key. Multi-piece, the pillars chased with a repeated pattern, base with "cornini" decoration, the sides and top glazed, hinged handle. Circular black enamel with radial gold painted Roman numerals on white reserves, outer gold dot minute divisions and "turquoise" five minute divisions. Gilt fancy hands. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for the going and striking trains, lateral lever escapement on a brass platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance with temperature adjustment screws, flat balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating the hours and half hours on a gong. Dim. 147 x 100 mm.
