Anonymous, Japan, early 19th. century. Very fine and rare, striking hanging bell-clock. In form of a bronze Temple bell. Revolving, with sliding silver plates, for the night and day variable Japanese hours, the half hour made of Shakudo. Blued steel fixed pointer. GiIt brass, full plate double train movement set on two levels, fusee with chain for the going train, verge escapement with plain brass balance. Striking train with going barrel, and a locking plate striking on the bell case. In very good condition. Dim. 154x250 mm. Notes A similar clock is published in N.H.N.
