Breguet No. 291, sold to Mr. Julliot on 6 Floreal an 6 ( 25 April 1798), for the sum of 600 Francs. Silver and gold "souscription" watch. Three body, massive, "forme collier", polished, with rims and bow in gold, by Amy Gros, No. 291, hallmarked 1789. White enamel, signed: "Breguet", with Breguet numerals. Blued steel Breguet "Souscription" single hand with tapered point. GiIt brass, 25—, signed: "Breguet No. 291", of experimental caliber, as used by Breguet for the first "souscription" watches, with central barrel, retained along with the wheels by a single plate. Overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, plain brass three armed balance, blued steel flat balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the regulator. In very good condition. Diam. 62mm. Notes However sold as late as 1798, according to several evidences, such as the case, hallmarked 1789, the early type caliber, the balance without "parachute" suspension, the dial without secret signature and fixed by two feet retained by screws, one can assume this watch is almost certainly one of the very first "souscription" ever made by Breguet.
