Daniel de Saint Leu, Watchmaker of Her Majesty, London, No. 3858, made for the Islamic market, circa 1780. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel, pair-cased quarter striking clock-watch. Outer double body, the bezel pierced and chased with a floral decoration, the back set with an enamel pannel painted with military trophies, framed with a chased garland of leaves, the edge pierced and chased with a floral decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner double body, bassine, the back pierced and engraved with scrolls and flowers. GiIt brass dust-cap. White enamel with Turkish numerals. Gold "scoties" skeletonized hands. GiIt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three armed balance, giIt brass English cock. Striking on a bell, with strike-silent selection lever on the bezel. Signed on the dial, the dust cap and the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 60mm.
