Jump, London, circa 1900. Very rare and fine silver-gilt and shagreen-cased 'humpback'timepiece astronomical carnage clock with perpetual calendar and moon-phase, in original travelling case. One-piece brass frame with silver-gilt mounts and polished green shagreen covered sides and back with winding shutter. Four bun feet. Engine-turned gilt plate with circular engine-turned silver dial, circular grained chapter-ring with Roman numerals and minute divisions, moon-phase aperture above, the blued-steel disk inlaid with gold moons and stars. Apertures for weekdays, date and months below. Blued-steel Breguet hands. Notes James Jump made a limited number of carriage clocks of this design, usually of different complication, in the ' hump-back' style introduced by Breguet nearly a century earlier.
