Georges de la Courtine à Genève, circa 1650. Fine early gilt brass and rock crystal watch. Double body, bassine with rock crystal back (later) and loose-ring pendant, gilt brass mounting. Plain polished silver with Roman numerals, hait and quarter hour divisions, a small rosette engraved at the center. Unusual single thin blued steel hand, the pierced elaborate center following the shape of the dial central rosette. GiIt brass full plate with unusual gilt brass pillars, pierced and engraved with delphins. Three wheel train with fusee and gut line, worm-and-wheel set-up with blued steel finely pierced brackets, verge escapement with plain balance without spring, florally pierced oval gilt brass cock, secured by a screw. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 40mm.
