Michael Shultz, Riga (Latvia), circa 1690. Fine gilt bronze, hexagonal, early balance spring table clock. Double body, with glazed panels, and six winged paws, the bell in the silvered base. GiIt brass chapter ring with Roman numerals, applied on a dial-plate engraved with a river-side landscape, a fisherman on the front, a castle on the back. Blued steel elaborated single hand. Shaped, gilt brass, full plate with fusee and chain, verge escapement with plain steel three armed balance, gilt brass single foot cock, secured by twin screws, florally pierced and chased in such a way the balance spring can be seen. rack regulator and ratchet wheel set-up with silver disc. Striking train with florally pierced and engraved fixed barrel, silver pierced and engraved count wheel on the back plate, fine pierced and engraved gilt brass single hammer. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 14 cm.
