J. Ellicott, London, No 2200, circa 1750. Very fine 22 ct. "repoussé" gold,pair cased half quarter repeating watch. Outer signed: "Moser Fecit", pierced and repoussé with foliage and a scene depicting Anthony encountering Cleopatra. Inner pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and grotesque mask. White enamel with Roman and Arabic numerals. Gold Louis XV hands. Gilt brass full plate, fusee with chain, verge escapement, English cock with diamond endstone.Silver dust-cap; Very good condition. Diam. 51 mm. George-Michael Moser, originally from Schaffhausen,working in London up to his death in 1785,is generally considered to have been the best chaser and repousse worker of his age.
