Anonymous, Swiss, probably Geneva, circa 1690. Fine silver cased alarum watch. Double body "bassine", the border pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and masks, split bezel and loose-ring pendant. Silver champlevé of unusual pattern with Roman numerals engraved within circular cartouches, concentric alarm setting disc with Arabic numerals. Blued-steel hour pointer and alarm hand. Full plate gilt brass, Egyptian pillars, three wheel train, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm balance, balance spring with rack-and-pinion regulator, large pierced and engraved continental cock. Alarm train with florally pierced fixed barrel and partly steel train, striking on a bell. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
