Dent, Watchmaker to the Queen, 33 Cockspur Street, London, No. 32384 with London hallmarks for 1893. Very fine 18 ct. gold hunting cased, moon phase astronomical keyless minute repeating watch with perpetual calendar and split seconds chronograph and 60 minutes progressive recorder. Four body, massive, "pomme et filets", polished, marked "R.N." (Robert Benson North). Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel by Willis with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph ring, sunk subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the months of the leap-year cycle, the dates and the running seconds with inner moon phase aperture. Blued-steel "pear" hands. Notes chronometer makers until the mid-20th Century. This demonstration model was on display for many years at the premises of Mesere. E. Dent & Co. Ltd, in Pall Mall, St. James's. It was eventually sold by Christie's in London along with the glass balance spring chronometer, also displayed inthe shop.
