Not signed, late 19th Century A massively constructed shop regulator. Domed rectangular, mahogany veneer with recessed plinth and side canting, fully glazed front door, hinged side windows. Circular, silvered, Arabic seconds and minutes, Roman hour numerals, blued steel hands. Notes Note: Exceptionally well made instrument, perhaps made by a hyghly skilled clock-maker for his own use. The unusual temperature compensation employs a steel rod with concentric tubes of zinc and steel each tube being partly skeletonised. The outer steel tube supports the weight at a position approximating to its centre of gravity.
