Rivera (Mexican, 20th century). A hand crafted sterling silver brooch or pendant in the style of Matilde Poulat of cascading shield form adorned frontally with three pyramid shaped square amethyst stones down center, each flanked to right and left by vertical rectangular red coral segments, and each with a row of small round turquoise beads below, the sterling mount with hammered spirals to either side of stones, to top with single cabochon cut amethyst, and to bottom with six hanging teardrop shaped appendages with a single turquoise bead on each. Back of piece with horizontal pin bar for wearing as a brooch and with loop at top for wearing as a pendant. Marked to back "MR-38", the registration number for artisan Rivera, and "Hecho en Mexico" in a ring around "925 Rivera". Approximately 84mm long, 44mm wide. Total approximate weight 22.1 grams
