D. Picart, London, No. 311, with London hallmarks for 1729. Very fine and rare, 22 ct. gold triple case watch. Outer double body of finely worked gold wire filigree floral patterns. haler double body, bassine, polished and gilt brass shagreen covered protecting case with gold piqué work decoration. Gold champlevé with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with a mask and foliage. Signed on the dial and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm. Notes Note: English watches in filigree cases are particularly rare, and this example is of much larger diameter than usual. Thanks to its protecting case, it is also in an outstanding condition.
