Lepine, Horloger du Roi, circa 1815. Fine and large 18 ct. gold, quarter repeating watch. Three body, Empire with reeded band and polished back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. Gold engine-turned with Breguet numerals on white enamel cartouches and outer white enamel minute ring. Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass, true Lepine calibre with free standing barrel, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance. Typical Lepine repeating train and work with two polished steel hammers, striking on two polished steel gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on the cuvette. In very good condition. Diam. 64 mm. Notes Fine and large example of the Lepine's workshop late production, still in the style of its founder. At the time this watch was made, most of the French watches were made in Switzerland. The case of this watch carries the French hallmarks for 1809-1818.
