Favre Frères à Saint Quentin, circa 1800. "La jeune Négresse". Fine small gilt and lacquered bronze, eight day going, hour and hall hour striking "Pendule au Nègre". Rectangular based with claw feet and applied vine branch decoration. Movement on arched support with inset light relief scene of children playing in a Forest. Virginie with enamel eyes sitting at the top and flanked by two urns with serpent handles on rectangular bases. White enamel with Roman numerals (restored). Pierced and chased gilt brass hands. Brass circular with going barrel on both trains, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 34 x 26 x 10 cm. Notes This charming model "Pendule au Nègre" has never been recorded in any book up-to-now.
