Audinet A Paris, circa 1760. Fine 8 day going, hour and half hour striking, cartel "en contre partie Boulle" with " cul de lampe". Waisted case of oak, glazed on three sides, the gilt metal veneer with floral marquetry in tortoiseshell stained red and green and mother-of-pearl. Gilt bronze foliate bottom corner pieces extending into feet. Gilt metal framed glazed door with centre bottom applique of two putti flanking a sand-glass. The figure on the right, whose stomach is being pecked by a cock, holds a flaming torch and regards his companion who manipulates the sand-glass. Matching pediment and bracket. The pediment is surmounted by the figure of a child seated on a sphere and looking to the right. The bracket with gilt mounts in the form of exotic heads arising from fronds and foliage and with leaf and fruit tail-piece descending from a fronded base. Gilt bronze with Roman numerals on enamel cartouches. Blued steel Louis XIV hands. Rectangular with turned pillars, going barrels both for the going and the striking train, verge escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Signed on the dial and the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 110 x 40 x 20 cm. with the "cul de lampe"
