Not signed, French, circa 1900. Fine and unusual gilt brass and enamel "Bras-enl'air" 8 day going mantle clock, on a white marble base Base in the form of a white marble plinth with square gilt brass feet, central trophy, and arcaded bands. Bead frame to the inset top of the plinth, which carries a gilt brass case for the movement. In the form of a full length, standing, gilt brass female figure in antique dress set against a black enamel ground with polychrome enamel foliate tracery surrounding the figure; the hour and minutes are indicated by the arms of the figure against two sectors of arabic numerals placed on fan-shaped supports at each side of the case. The figure is framed by a free-standing arch with scrolled pillars and cockade decoration to the top of the arch and three pinacles are mounted on the case. Brass rectangular with going barrel, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. The hands of the automaton lady are driven by means of levers and cams on the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 46 x 23 x 12 cm.
