Not signed, Japan, circa 1850. Fine and rare Shintan-wood inro watch, suspended from two death's head Netsuke and with a patterned, satin "pot-pourri" bag. Inro-type case, made of Shintan-wood, carved with a tiger and further foliage decoration. Revolving dial with sliding silver plates for theunequal Japanese hours, the half hours made of Shakudo. Blued steel fixed pointer. Brass full plate, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced brass cock with steel end-piece. In good condition.
