Klett à Sühl, circa 1775. Rare and fine 18 ct. three coloured gold and steel watch. Double body Louis XVI, the bezel of gun-metal inlaid and applied with chased gold formai decoration, the back of gun-metal as well, inlaid with a chased gold scene of Chinese inspiration, the border decoration matching that of the bezel. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Rose-diamond set Louis XV hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm-balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass Louis XVI continental cock with blued steel endpiece. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 45 mm. Notes The technique used for the decoration of this watch is very similar to that, developed first in Toledo for guns and weapons and quickly became famous throughout the world.
