C. Bruguier à Genève No. 290, circa 1840. Very fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, diamond-set singing bird box. Two part with lobed corners, entirely engraved with floral and foliage decoration in a geometrical pattern, the the cover with black champleve enamelled decoration. Hinged compartment for the key. Lid with a fine rose-diamond inlaid bunch of flower over a black enamel ground. Pierced and engraved gold grid. Multi-coloured feathered bird with moving body, wings, tail, opening beak and turning head. Brass plate, fusee with chain, stacked cams, fly regulator and rectangular bellow. Signature scratched on the movement. In very good condition. Dim. 31 x 59 x 100 mm.
