Robert Ward, London, No. 2020, circa 1770. Fine 20 ct. gold pair cased, quarter repeating watch. Outer double body, the bezel pierced and chased with scrolls, the back repousse with a mythological scene with outer rocaille and pierced scroll decoration. Inner double body, bassine, pierced and engraved with a mask and foliage. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with column pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring and English gilt brass pierced and engraved cock. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate and the gilt brass dust cap. In very good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
