Not signed, French, circa 1800. Unique experimental centre seconds watch with pin-wheel lever escapement. Later gilt brass, glazed on both faces. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Brass, unusual calibre with free standing barrel, counterpoised pin-wheel lever escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. In very good condition. Diam 55 mm Notes Previously in the Grenaud collection, this watch is described in several book as a good example of an attempt to apply to a watch, the pin-wheel escapement, as invented by Amant and improved by Lepaute.
