Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, No. 353753, case No. 221562, completed in 1912, sold to the agent for Italy on 14 July 1913. Fine 18 ct. gold keyless watch with chronograph and 30 minute recorder. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine" polished, the back with the black champleve enamelled monogram: S.M. Gold cuvette engrave: Non si volta chi n stella è fiso-Ricordo della Leonardo da Vinci- Maggio 1914. Notes Sold with a letter from Vacheron & Constantin and photocopy of a letter from the historie department of the Italian Navy. According to this lettre, Captain Stefano Morino took the commandment of the Vessel Leonardo da Vinci on May 1914. This watch which bears his monogram was certainly presented to him at this opportunity. Vessel of 23'088 his, was bought by the Italian Navy on 10 October 1911, and in use from 17 May 1914. It was damaged on 2 August 1916 and was restored in 1919. Its motto was: Non si volta chi a stella è Tiso.
