Notes Such clocks were usually produced in Switzerland toward the end of the XVlllth century and the beginning of the XIXth. They were slightly larger, quarter repeating, "grandesonnerie" with alarm, but with a 36 hours going train only. They were reputed to be used by officers in campaigns. This example, slightly smaller, appears to have been made earlier by one of the finest makers of the period and can be considered as the progenitor of the famous "pendules d'officiers".
