J. Fournier, Bd. du Montparnasse No. 57, Paris, No. 1747, circa 1895. Fine mahogany 49 hour going marine chronometer with power reserve indication. C. Notes J. Fournier (1834-1920), Horloger de la Marine, begin his production in 1888 and is awarded the lst. prize at the timing contest organised in 1889-1890, with his chronometer No. 2. He married the daughter of Delépine and became his successor circa 1895, therefore, his own production followed the serial numbers of his father-in-law. This chronometer is certainly among the first produced in his father-inlaw's workshop. A very similar chronometer by E. Delepine is described and illustrated by Hans von Bertele in Marine und Taschenchronometer, Callwey 1981, p. 257.
