Dauphin County, Pennsylvania painted dower chest, dated 1803 , the molded lift lid with 2 tombstone panels and potted tulips over a case with central panel enclosing a red and black German inscription identifying the owner as Anna Marie Harman, on white ground with diamond border, flanked by blue, red, black, yellow, green and white stripes with leaf, dot and squiggly decoration and heart corners with 3 drawers similarly decorated all on black ogee bracket feet and all over red moldings, underside of lid retains remnants of a fraktur drawing, 27"h. , 48 1/2"w. This lot is accompanied by a catechism book inscribed with her daughter, Rachel Enterline's, name, along with a complete family history. Provenance: Descended in family to the present owner.
