Anonymous, French , circa 1800. Very fine and unusual bronze and ormolu automaton, hour and half hour striking clock. The bronze base with applied gilt figure of woodland divinities, at the top of the column above, a finely chased gilt bronze eagle retains in his beak a swinging seesaw. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Brass, "pre-mouvement de Paris" type, with going barrel, anchor escapement, short pendulum with a silk suspension, striking on a bell with the count wheel on the back plate.The automaton seesaw is driven at will by an independent train with going barrel.
