Anonymous, French, circa 1880. Fine gilt bronze, moon phase, astronomical, hour and half hour striking mantel clock with perpetual calendar and indication of the equation of time. Oval with four enamelled panels painted "en grisaille" with Cupids over a blue ground, set on four scrolled feet, fixed on a gilt bronze terrace. Fine applied decoration of ribbon knots, oak leaves, mistletoe, and flowers. White enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Subsidiary calendar dial with the months, inner indication of the equation of time for each month, small subsidiary dials for the days of the week and the dates, moon phase aperture. Brass "mouvement de Paris" with going barrels, visible Brocot encapement, hait second beating pendulum with Brocot suspension. Driven by the striking train, the perpetual calendar work is built on the Brocot patent In very good condition, with a gilt wooden base. Dim. 45 x 30 x 15 cm.
