George Prior, London, No. 2202, circa 1790. Fine 18ct. gold, pair-cased, quarter repeating watch made for the Islamic market. Double body outer Louis XVI, chased with military trophies, the inner bassine, pierced and engraved with scrolls and leaves on the edge. GiIt brass dust cap. White enamel with Turkish numerals (restored). Later gold Breguet hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate, the back plate applied with chased, scroll and floral decoration, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock with diamond end-stone. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dial and back plate. In good condition. Diam. 57 mm.
