Robin, Horloger du Roi, No. 59, circa 1789. Very rare and important watch movement with an early lever escapement and a special temperature compensation invented in 1789. Notes This movement was made by Robert Robin based on his studies of the very early lever watches made by Josiah Emery, and imported from England in 1786. The lever escapement and the arrangement of the balance and the balance spring are very similar to that made by Emery. The temperature compensation, signed . Compensation inventée par Robin, Horloger aux Galeries in 1789, seems to be inspired by that invented by Alexander Cummin and described in his book : The Elements of Clock and Watchwork, 1766.
