Robin aux Galeries du Louvre, à Paris, No. 115, circa 1790. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, dumb-quarterrepeating early lever watch with Republican calendar. Gold double body, Louis XV, polished. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and calendar rings with red numerals for the three decades. Gold hands. Gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, Emery type early straight line lever escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, bluedsteel helical balance spring. Repeating on the case by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back and dial plate . In very good condition. Diam. 56 mm. Notes Robert Robin was the first maker in France to produce watches with lever escapements. They were modelled on the three watches by Josiah Emery, imported from England between 1782 and 1786.
