Janvier, circa 1800. Very fine and rare mahogany, centre-seconds astronomical long case regulator. Elegant, two piece, solid mahogany, the top part glazed on three sides,with delicate mouldings, attributed to Jean-Ferdinand Schwerdfeger (1734-1818). Brass dial plate with upper white enamel Roman chapter ring calibrated for 24 hours for mean time hours with the "Mouvement Périodique, Synodique et Journalier de la lune", the centre in dark blue enamel with gilt decoration on the border. Gilt brass sun hand and moon hand with revolving lunar globe on the tip. Lover white enamel dial, signed by Dubuisson (signed on the counterenamel) with Arabic minute and seconds ring, inner Republican calendar indication for 30 days. Gilt brass Breguet minute hand, blued-steel seconds and calendar hands. Triangular brass plates, with conical pillars, Huygens type end-less rope main power, inverted Graham dead beat escapement, mahogany seconds beating pendulum with micrometric adjustment and spring blade suspension. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 181 x 34 x 21 cm. Notes Antide Janvier produced several clocks and regulators indicating the "Mouvement Périodique, Synodique et Journalier de la lune". He explained his reasoning in his book entitled: Recueil de Machines Composées et exécutées par Antide Janvier. 1828, pp. 23-25, pl.
