Hilaire Bassereau (Paris), No. 365-2/1802, completed in February 1802. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, quarter-repeating watch with special escapement, the cuvette with date and equation table. Three body, Empire with reeded band and polished back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette, the centre engraved with a date ring and outer equation of time table, the polished steel date pointer driven by a click work on the back, advanced each time the key is inserted in the winding hole. White enamel with small central hour chapter-ring with Breguet numerals and outer Arabic minute ring on the border of the bezel ( hair lines). Blued-steel Breguet hands. Notes This very fine watch incorpora tes several unusual features such as the fitting of a double wheel duplex escapement to a movement of Lepine calibre. The gilt brass cuvette is engraved with a table for the equation of time and is centred with a mechanical calendar set, by means of a click work, each time the key is inserted in the winding hole
